Technology and Education

At Sharjah American International School, we believe that integrating technology into the educational environment allows for a student-centered learning approach that addresses the individual needs of our students. Sharjah American International School has been a pioneer in implementing numerous technology-based programs and initiatives. Over the past two years, we have integrated advanced teaching tools that have improved the pedagogical approach to students’ learning in the classroom and at home.

Students attending our school are exposed to technology-based learning daily. In the Kindergarten, and Elementary sections, iPads and laptops are being used by students to complement the lessons taught on the Interactive Boards, that are installed in all of the classrooms. In Middle school and High school sections, students use laptops to engage in interactive learning in the classroom and at home. Additionally, specialized electronic curriculums have been adapted to the new style of teaching in the form of electronic books (e-Books), interactive and collaborative online virtual learning environment (Frogos), as well as iPad- specific applications that will enhance the students learning experience.

We believe that technology opens doors for teachers to present information in multiple modalities and for students to express and demonstrate what they know through multiple means. All teachers at SAIS receive a professional technology development training to support learning and have access to ongoing assistance during the school year.

SAIS offers opportunities to expand education beyond the traditional boundaries of the classroom by adapting and applying effective technological tools We believe that using a technology-based approach to educate our students, allows for a more customizable and motivational learning environment.

All the above mentioned tools, are an important instrument for providing flexible scheduling and pacing by making learning available during afterschool hours and year-round. Due to these implementations, SAIS students have become global learners who are now more engaged and responsible.
